We attach great importance to protecting your personal data. This statement explains what data we process when you visit chateaudedenens.ch, contact us, order our products or book a room, and what your rights are. It is based on the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP).

2. Data we process and why

Visiting the website

When you visit the website, the server automatically records technical information: IP address, date and time of the visit, pages viewed, browser and operating system. This data is used only to keep the website running properly and securely (for example to block intrusion attempts).

Contact form

When you write to us through the form, we process your last name, first name, email address, the subject and content of your message in order to reply to you. Your message is sent to us by email.

Orders and customer account

To process an order, we need your last name, first name, address, phone number and email address, as well as the products ordered and the collection or delivery method chosen. This data is used to prepare and deliver your order, issue the invoice and contact you about the order. You can order without creating an account. If you create an account, we keep your details and order history so you do not have to enter them again.

Payment is made on collection or by invoice: no bank details are entered or stored on the website.

Room bookings

When you book a room, by phone or through the website, we process your contact details, the dates of your stay and the number of guests in order to manage your booking and your stay, and to account for the tourist tax.

Email and phone exchanges

When you contact us directly, we use the information you give us only to handle your request.

3. Cookies and third-party services

The website uses technical cookies that are necessary for it to work, in particular to remember the contents of your cart and, if you have one, your login to your customer account. When an order is placed, the shop also records where the visit came from (for example a search engine or a direct link) so that we know how our customers find us. We do not use any third-party advertising or analytics tools.

The website uses the following services:

  • Google reCAPTCHA (Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC, USA): protects the contact form against automated submissions (spam). To do so, technical information about your browser and your behaviour on the page, as well as your IP address, is sent to Google.
  • Google Fonts (Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC, USA): some fonts are loaded from Google’s servers, which receive your IP address in the process.
  • Google Maps (Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC, USA): the “Contact & Opening Hours” page shows a Google Maps map to locate the château. When this page is opened, your browser connects to Google’s servers, which receive your IP address in particular and may set cookies. The “Directions” link opens the Google Maps website, which is subject to Google’s privacy policy.
  • YouTube (Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC, USA): the “History of the Château” page includes a video hosted on YouTube. When this video is loaded or played, technical data, including your IP address, is sent to Google, which may set cookies.
  • Wordfence : a security plugin that analyses access to the website in order to block attacks; it processes IP addresses in particular.

You can set your browser to refuse or delete cookies; some features of the website, such as the cart, may then no longer work.

4. Disclosure of data and transfer abroad

We do not sell or rent your data. It is only disclosed to third parties to the extent necessary:

  • to our hosting provider Infomaniak Network SA (Geneva, Switzerland), which hosts the website and our mailboxes on servers located in Switzerland;
  • à to Google, for the services listed in section 3. This data may be processed in the United States. Google is certified under the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, recognised by the Federal Council as ensuring an adequate level of protection;
  • to the authorities, where required by law (for example for the tourist tax).

5. Retention period

We keep your data for as long as necessary for the purposes described above:

  • messages sent through the contact form: for the time needed to handle your request and any follow-up;
  • orders and invoices: 10 years, in accordance with the legal obligation to keep accounting records (art. 958f of the Swiss Code of Obligations);
  • customer account: until you ask for it to be deleted;
  • technical data and security logs: a few weeks at most.

6. Security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data: encrypted connection (HTTPS), regular website updates, a security plugin and backups.

7. Your rights

Under the FADP, you may at any time:

  • ask what data we process about you (right of access);
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • ask for your data to be deleted, subject to legal retention obligations;
  • object to processing;
  • ask to receive your data in a common format.

To exercise these rights, write to us at info@chateaudedenens.ch or at the postal address given in section 1. You also have the right to contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), www.edoeb.admin.ch.

8. Changes

We may update this statement, in particular if the website or the law changes. The version published on this page is authoritative.
